About the role:

Exciting opportunity to join Box Hill Institute as our Lead Project Manager - Infrastructure! This opportunity is full time, fixed term for 12 months.

The Lead Project Manager - Infrastructure provides leadership and coordination to ensure the successful delivery of major construction projects within the Box Hill Institute including government funded projects.

The Lead Project Manager - Infrastructure provides leadership and coordination to ensure the successful delivery of major construction projects within the Box Hill Institute including government funded projects.

This role is responsible for managing project delivery and takes a lead role in project quality and oversight of all project activities and performs tasks including tendering, procurement, contract administration, and ensuring the achievement of project objectives. The Lead Project Manager works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including schools, contractors, and consultants, to ensure quality outcomes are achieved and supports and mentors other project managers within the team.

Within this role you will be leading and motivating team members and aligning the wider team with organisational goals and monitoring performance. You will also act as a subject matter expert in projects and provide day to day guidance and mentoring to Project Managers and other members of the project team.

The Infrastructure team comprises the Facilities, Projects, Space Planning, and Timetabling functions. Its responsibilities include facilities maintenance, building operations, strategic infrastructure projects, space planning, timetabling, and leasing for BHI, City and Lilydale campus facilities. The team aims to provide high-quality services to students, faculty, and staff, maintain operational standards, and optimize space management. Ensuring Occupational Health and Safety standards are met is of primary importance, and prompt response to emergency situations is crucial to restoring effective facility usage.


About You:

  • Relevant Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in Building Construction or a building-related qualification with equivalent experience in a Lead Project Manager role
  • Competent AutoCAD experience plus expertise in working with drawings
  • Extensive experience with MS Project, Excel, and Word
  • Extensive experience in contract management, managing capital works, and building construction. Experience in working with external contractors to achieve successful project outcomes
  • Demonstrated experience leading, supporting and motivating team members
  • Ability to develop and evaluate tender proposals and business plans, and conduct risk assessments, and create business plans.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement systems and procedures to guide work and track progress, while effectively managing barriers and finding solutions.
  • Demonstrated high-level experience in project management, including the ability to create and maintain project plans, define clear objectives and actions, and communicate effectively with project team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify gaps in information and analyse complex data.
  • Comfortable dealing with conceptual and complex issues, using analytical and conceptual skills to problem-solve effectively.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining productive relationships with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally, fostering trust through consistent actions, values, and communication.
