About the role:

A highly rewarding opportunity to join the Schools Unit at our Lilydale Campus as our VCE Vocational Major Teacher!

The Teacher – VCE VM provides high quality and innovative course materials and excellent teaching delivery to VCE students, to:

  • support student success in VCE VM and thereby improve their employment and/or educational pathways
  • ensure BHI compliance requirements are met.

The Teacher – VCE is one of several positions in the Schools Unit of the Foundation Education College. The position reports to the Manager Schools Unit and is responsible for liaising with students, relevant industry groups, community services providers, and employees of BHI at all levels.

The Schools Unit is unique within Box Hill Institute due to its diversity of students, stakeholders, delivery methods and broad business function. Responsible for the delivery and compliance of all senior secondary educational certificates including the VCE at its CBD campus, the Schools Unit has taken a leading role with the introduction of the VCE Vocational Major and Victorian Pathways Certificate. The Schools Unit has set its sight on becoming a ‘centre of excellence’ that integrates and aligns with the Institute’s broader strategic and business operations plans.

Our courses provide pathways into further education and employment, and help to increase life and employability skills. Full-time, part-time, on-campus, blended, work-based and online delivery options exist to suit the needs of our students and industry partners.

This role will commence 20 January 2025.

About You:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Education and experience teaching Senior Secondary Programs in the VCE and VCE VM
  • Current VIT Registration
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110 or its successor TAE40116 minimum) is preferred and will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver logical, succinct, up-to-date and engaging course materials and lessons. Demonstrated proficiency in using learning management systems (i.e. Moodle) to create innovative and engaging learning experiences for students
  • Ability to develop a range of complex documents that comply with all relevant quality standards, including unit plans and assessment tools
  • Experience with student management systems for attendance tracking, retrieval of student details where required, and resulting
  • High level awareness of, and responsiveness to, people from a broad range of diverse backgrounds and emotional contexts
  • Appreciation of administrative requirements required for the coordination of vocation education and training, an understanding of OH&S, equity and equal opportunities, and legislation to TAFE teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to identify both potential and existing issues and setbacks within a classroom, and to effectively resolve these issues. Ability to motivate and guide students to optimise their learning outcomes
