A day in the life of this role will be supporting BAC employees, contractors, and tenants to help deliver our safety vision of “BWell & BSafe… every person, every day” with the goal of reducing serious harm incidents to zero for everyone working at, with, or visiting Brisbane Airport.
Having the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships whilst proactively coordinating the WHS audit, inspection and observation program for BAC contracted work will be key to this position. Reporting to our WHS Manager, this is a fixed term contract until September 2026 based at our Sky Gate Head Office.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include
- Coordinate the WHS audit, inspection and observation program for BAC contracted works (services, construction and other), aiding and guidance to BAC works managers in this process as well as overseeing the application of the formal WHS non-conformance program.
- Coordinate the BAC WHS contracted works management process, including working with BAC works managers to facilitate the efficient approval of Works Approvals and Notices of Risk Activities for contractors and tenants as well as the timely completion and submission of required WHS reports.
- Partner with works managers and other members of BAC staff in managing WHS risks, assisting with the identification and assessment of health, safety and environmental risks associated with BAC desired work outcomes; and recommending, establishing, documenting and monitoring of appropriate control measures that achieve business objectives whilst ensuring health and safety of workers and airport users and protection of the airport environment.
- Coordinate and conduct timely investigations into workplace health and safety incidents and support with investigation of environmental incidents if required, engaging with management and workers to identify, implement and communicate appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence as requested.
Experience and qualifications
Essential
- Diploma of Workplace Health and Safety or equivalent experience.
- Three years’ experience in a health and safety role in a relevant industry.
- Experience in supervising others in construction safety.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Lead auditor in WHS Management Systems training
