We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Operator position to be based at our Maitland LNG Plant near Karratha. This position is available on a continuous fly in/fly out roster of 15/20, ideally based out of Perth or alternatively the successful candidate can reside in Karratha. This position will report to the Site Management team (Managers and Plant Engineers).

The purpose of this position is to Operate and Maintain the WKPP LNG Plant, Solar Centaur Turbines, Logistics Operations (Road Transport) and associated facilities (pipelines) to achieve safe, efficient and effective production and delivery to customers whilst maintaining effective relationships with stakeholder's in line with the WKPP Operations Business Plan and EDL Asset Management System requirements.

The key responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to

  • Comply with all Statutory and EDL standards including MHF legislation, DEMIRS requirements, EPA License requirements, Dangerous Goods legislation, work permit systems, procedures, identifying requirements for change where necessary following the EDL Change Management Process and Procedures.
  • Participate in the development of SWI's when required, participation in HAZOPs, risk assessments, co-ordination of on Site works with engineering, assist with the development & implementation of new operational and maintenance procedures while ensuring compliance to the EDL Asset Management System and MHF requirements.
  • Identify and implement improvements according best practices when approved by the Operations Manager.
  • Ensure operations and maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with procedures. When requested, assist with the development of the skills & competences of the team to meet business requirements.
  • Complete preventative and corrective maintenance on plant equipment such as pumps, belt driven fans, motors.
  • Verify and adjust if required alignment and tension of motors, fans and belts.
  • With your Manager you are responsible for your own development and maintenance of your personal training plan.
  • Responsible for maintaining the store, inwards receipts and dispatching of equipment and spare parts in Oracle.
  • Support the full delivery of the maintenance schedules. Meet tight deadlines and attain performance targets as set by the Manager.
  • Support other staff and the Operations Manager in developing strategies, policies and procedures that will improve the performance of the LNG Plant and promote good working relationships within EDL. Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company's employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the level and responsibility of the position such as and not limited to Panel Operations, Site Operations and Permit Officer responsibilities as directed by the Senior Operator / Maintainer or Operations Manager.
  • Assist with organising and maintaining records on Site as directed.
  • Promote good Health, Safety, Security & Environmental (HSSE) performance amongst colleagues and contractors, lead by example and challenge all unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Observe, follow and obey all HSSE procedures, instructions, signs and specific rules to avoid injury and contamination to the environment.
  • Always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required and encourage your colleagues, contractors and visitors to do the same.
  • Report all hazards, accidents, incidents and near misses to the Operations Manager and complete the necessary incident report forms.
  • Adhere to all Site specific security procedures and ensure that all sensitive Company documentation is protected and kept safe.
  • Support any Emergency Response both on Site and external to the Site.

    Qualifications and experience
  • Mechanical Trade / Certificate essential.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of a modern Power Station and / or LNG Plant and / or similar gas compression / pipeline experience essential.
  • Strong commitment to achieving zero harm outcomes with respect to Health, Safety, Security & Environmental performance
  • Previous Hydrocarbon operator and maintenance experience preferred
  • Experience with rotating equipment preferred.
  • Experience with laser alignment preferred.
  • Experience with mechanical pipe fitting.
  • Dogging and rigging qualifications desirable.
  • Computer literacy using Microsoft suite of packages.
  • Drivers licence essential.
  • Experience with Solar Turbines, Ingersoll Rand compressors or other similar brands preferred.
  • Experience in Emergency Response.
  • Understanding of Dangerous goods legislation preferred.
  • Understanding of MHF regulations preferred.
  • Experience with Maintenance Management systems i.e. Oracle.
  • Experience in Permit to work Systems, gas testing officer preferred.
  • First Aid Training.
