About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Project Financial Accountant for a part-time position (3 days per week) on a 12-month fixed-term basis. In this role, you will support the Corporate Finance Manager by improving financial accounting systems and processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, and maintaining an effective internal control environment.

This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint.

Key responsibilities include preparing monthly and quarterly compliance reports, developing streamlined reporting processes, and establishing robust internal control practices. You will also perform advisory reviews, support prioritised finance projects, manage improvement projects, and enhance the Enterprise Risk Framework with respect to financial risk.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continuous improvement and operational efficiency of our finance functions while working in a supportive and collaborative team environment.

About You

  • You are a proactive and detail-oriented financial professional with a strong background in accounting and finance.
  • You have proven experience in a similar role within a large corporate or complex organisation, with a strong technical understanding of large financial systems and applications.
  • Your extensive experience in preparing financial reports and presenting analysis to stakeholders, along with your ability to implement improved business processes and reporting, sets you apart.
  • You excel in using Microsoft products, especially advanced Excel, and have strong ERP system skills.
  • Your analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks effectively ensure accuracy and efficiency in your work.
  • With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you can influence outcomes and manage stakeholder relationships.
  • You are a flexible team player who thrives in a professional environment and is committed to delivering continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced Diploma in accounting or finance or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.

Desirable

  • Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)
