About the role

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineering Officer to join our Network Development team. This role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment.

The role is responsible for the creation of detailed Scope of Work (SOW) documents and their accompanying estimations. The SOW’s encompass a range of different investment streams including Zone Substation and Major Connection investments. The process involves thorough stakeholder engagement across all areas of the business; from design through to construction, property through to project management, and everything in between.

As a Senior Engineering Officer in the Network Development team, you will also contribute to the maintenance and uplift of processes, systems, technical proformas, and guides used within the Network Development stream. You will work both independently and collaboratively within our team to achieve successful outcomes for all involved stakeholders. The role also requires you to mentor and train others as required to improve the capability of our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake investigations and stakeholder engagement to develop project scopes and estimates.
  • Produce, review and manage the delivery of preliminary concept designs to support the SOW document.
  • Responsible for the coordination of engineering surveys as required to obtain relevant data to enhance scope maturity.
  • Prepare design cost estimates to assist with the implementation and monitoring of strategic expenditure programs for the Network Investment and Maintenance Group across its various functions.

About You

In order to be successful in this position, you will possess:

  • Extensive experience in a similar Network Development engineering role in the Energy/Electrical and/or Utilities Industry.
  • Complete knowledge and application of current design philosophies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience utilising analytical and technical knowledge to manage various activities during planned and unplanned events to provide appropriate solutions for technical/engineering issues within an electricity network.
  • Experience in writing professional technical documents.

Required Qualifications/Skills

  • Associate Degree of Electrical Engineering (Power/Electrical) or Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering
  • WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate
  • Current Driver's Licence
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to manage diverse and complex issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver technical services in a professional and timely manner.
  • Strong time management skills with excellent planning and organisational skills, to be able to handle a varying complex workload.
