About Us

Founded in 2016, Giant Leap is Australia’s first venture capital investment firm that is 100% dedicated to backing mission driven founders solving our most pressing challenges. It invests across three key themes: sustainable living, health and wellbeing and empowering people

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who believes in our ethos that using business as a force for good is just good business. You must think like a business owner, be at ease with autonomy and ambiguity.

Your background is less important than the skills that you bring, so investment experience is not essential. What is essential is that you are comfortable with numbers and confident in your thought processes to be able to interrogate a commercial opportunity.

We encourage female candidates to apply even if you feel that you don’t have all of the requisite skills and experience we are looking for.

What you will do:

  • Be responsible for all aspects of the investment process, including meeting with founders, identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities and presenting to partners
  • Manage the due diligence process, including undertaking financial analysis, managing legal review and negotiating terms with founders, and preparing investment papers
  • Build close working relationships with founding teams of portfolio companies and support them as needed
  • Help to set and implement our strategy, including contributing to investment strategy development and setting OKRs
  • Drive continuous improvement in our operations, including identifying software platforms and process efficiencies
  • Coach team members to help complement their investor skill set and make high quality investment recommendations
  • Act as Giant Leap’s representative in front of multiple stakeholders, including our investors, founders and the startup community, attending and presenting at events
  • Develop, build and nurture deep networks and relationships and be known as someone who treats founder with respect and care so you are a ‘go-to’ person for founder referrals and advice
  • Project management of ad hoc projects, such as annual reports, founder support, and operational improvements
  • Lead the development of thought leadership pieces and content in sectors and trends that are relevant to Giant Leap
  • Prepare updates for our investors and other reporting required by the fund

Key skills & attributes

  • Critical thinker: You’re comfortable solving complex problems. You are adept at deploying numerical and logical thinking skills and draw on research and the expertise of those around you to tackle the many deep questions you have. You can seamlessly switch from a bird's eye view to the finer details
  • Growth mindset and adaptability: You believe you’ll always be learning and are constantly building from where you are today, adapting quickly as you go. You're excited to deep dive and get up to speed on a range of topics, find experts to learn from, relevant courses you're excited about and can develop a point of view fast.
  • Purpose driven: You are driven by creating positive social and environmental impact to create a better future for everyone.
  • Team player: You take initiative and manage your own priorities effectively. You know the right time to loop in members of the team and no job is too small. Like all of us at Giant Leap, you're happy to roll up your sleeves and do the task at hand.
  • Ownership mentality: You think like a business owner. You take responsibility for your work and are committed to achieving the best outcomes for the organisation and our portfolio companies.
  • Excellent communicator: You can articulate your ideas across spoken, written and visual mediums with the right mix of information and critical analysis. We want to hear your opinion!

  • Lead by example – We exist to demonstrate the power of startups to solve the world’s problems to guide us to a cleaner, healthier, happier future. We act with courage, integrity and kindness to challenge the status quo.
  • Play the long game – We are strategic in our decision-making and think about the consequences of our actions and inactions. We respect the past, present and future.
  • Be human – We value human connection and seek joy in life. We understand the importance of relationships and acknowledge we are only one piece of the puzzle. Without others, there is no self.
