Ventilation Engineer
Producing more than 250,000 ounces of gold each year, Gold Fields’ Agnew mine site is located in the Eastern Goldfields region.
It is situated 23 km west of Leinster, 375 km north of Kalgoorlie, and almost 1000km from Perth.
Gold Fields acquired the mine in 2001, and gold is sourced from underground operations and processed via the CIP plant.
Most of the almost 650-strong Agnew workforce reside in Perth and work at the mine via a fly-in/fly-out roster.
Role Details:
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will be responsible for facilitating the optimal extraction of gold ore from mining operations by providing comprehensive strategic and operational guidance on underground ventilation supply and demand, supporting maximum return to the business in alignment with EHS standards and legislation.

This role is offered on 8 days on 6 days off the roster and would require the incumbent to be residential locally (Leinster) or Fly-in Fly-out from Perth.

About the role:
- Contribute to site strategy by providing input into LOM ventilation requirements needed to achieve business goals.
- Secure planned production and safety targets by collaboratively developing and monitoring quarterly ventilation work plans for the team.
- Ensure the mining team is enabled to meet operational objectives by clearly defining and coordinating ventilation requirements as part of weekly and monthly mine production planning meetings.
- Assist with ventilation projects and ventilation capital infrastructure planning.
- Share and establish ventilation constraints and ensure ventilation instructions are accurately recorded and distributed, including field directions and work instructions.
- Guarantee that all statutory responsibilities and obligations are fulfilled promptly and that accurate.
- Maintain up-to-date record keeping, as well as communicated to underground personnel to ensure that short- and long-term planning of the ventilation circuit with mine development and needs of the mine are met.
- Assist with internal & external contractors and Graduate Engineers' exposure to ventilation plans and systems.
- Leverage technology and innovation to continuously improve the standards and quality of mine ventilation.
About you:
- Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in Underground Engineering with exposure to longhole drilling, blasting, ventilation, projects, planning and scheduling
- Possess planning, project and organisational skills
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, and mining software such as Deswik CAD
- Experience with Ventism required
- 12 months of practical experience to suffice the requirements for Shift Supervisors Certificate and/ or First Class Mine Managers Certificate desirable
