THE ROLE
Exploration and discovery are core to the IGO DNA. Our diverse and highly-technical exploration team are focussed on creating transformational value and sustainable growth for the Company and its shareholders through mineral deposit discovery and doing so in an environmentally responsible manner but also as leaders in this space.
Due to internal career progression, we have a vacancy for a Senior Field Assistant in one of our regional exploration teams. This role will provide daily supervision to a team of Field Assistants in a remote environment ensuring safe and quality execution of drilling and exploration activities. This role is offered on a 15:13 roster FIFO Ex-Perth and will require flexibility to move to different projects and rosters as required.
Reporting to the Field Supervisor your key accountabilities will include:
- Supervise Field Assistants & Contractors and conduct training & competency assessments as needed;
- Ensure sampling is conducted to a high standard whilst following all safety and quality control procedures;
- Work with and lead a small team in remote and regional locations around Australia;
- Respect and work with Traditional Landowners;
- Coordinate field assets and equipment, conduct routine maintenance, general camp duties;
- Documentation and record keeping, use of GPS, Inreach and Satellite Comms systems, PRONTO; and
- Supervise earthworks, conducting heritage surveys with traditional owners, assist with regional logistics and work with our in-house geophysics team.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
To be successful in this role, you will be a collaborative leader with a strong commitment to workplace safety. You will also have the following:
- Experience across all aspects of field-based work including drilling, heritage, clearing, rehab and community relations;
- Significant leadership experience within a similar role in a remote environment;
- Cert IV Leadership and Management (desirable);
- Ability to work in remote locations on greenfields & brownfields projects with tent, caravan or Transportable style accommodation;
- Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations;
- Experience in the use of GPS, Inreach and satellite communication systems;
- High Risk Work Licence (Forklift) desirable;
- A current ‘Provide first Aid Certificate’ desirable;
- Valid ‘C’ class manual drivers’ licence (essential), HR truck licence (desirable); and
- National Police Clearance obtained within the last two months.
