Your Opportunity

Following a recent strategy and operating model review, our focus is on building the structure, skills and capabilities required for the next chapter of the IGO story. We are now seeking a Manager Geoscience Specialisation and Innovation to join our broader Growth and Commercial team. This is an exciting, newly created role that is suited to a Geoscientist with a deep technical knowledge of data science and innovation. You will help drive discovery for IGO through the implementation of new technologies and the development of capability within the team.

Key accountabilities in this role include:

• Develop the Geoscience Data and Innovation team, enhance skills and expertise across IGO’s commodities of interest and drive strategic deliverables;
• Develop and implement machine learning tools and processes for prospectivity enhancement for the IGO exploration commodities of interest to create efficiencies in new target generation, leveraging internal and pre-competitive datasets;
• Enhance data science and analytics approaches and training within the team for big data analysis techniques and artificial intelligence models which can process, integrate and output new models for exploration targeting;
• Build on our own internal advanced geophysical and geochemical technologies through further engagement and partnerships across the industry in both research and emerging new start-up technologies;
• Support and monitor our investments in R&D to focus programs in delivering groundbreaking advancements to deliver our exploration strategy;
• Enhance further our team's deep geoscientific skillsets by developing our staff working with our subject matter experts; and
• Strive to enhance and lead innovative approaches both in data analysis and visualisation of results and information across the team.

About You

Along with an influential communication style, you must be a team player and bring the following skills:

• Knowledge of and experience in building and developing geological data science teams;
• Background in machine learning tools and processes;
• Passion for innovation and broad knowledge of the AI/ML community globally across mineral exploration;
• Ability and knowledge allowing the ability to embrace both traditional and new forms of exploratory approaches, leverage government and start-up initiatives;
• Tertiary qualifications in Geoscience coupled with data science / analytics qualifications;
• Valid ‘C’ class manual drivers’ licence; and
• National Police Clearance obtained within the last two months.
