Here's an overview of our role:
The Engineer - Risk & Assurance draws upon the education, experience and exposure of the applicant to support Jemena’s gas distribution asset management and engineering teams in risk, assurance and compliance management.
The role supports the engineering and asset management teams through the conduct of risk workshops, incident investigations, internal technical audits and other technical reviews. The role is important in ensuring the safe, sustainable and reliable supply of energy through our gas distribution system, particularly as Jemena looks towards a carbon zero gas distribution system.
The role also supports the maintenance of effective working relationships with government bodies, technical regulators and other external stakeholders.
Your role will cover the following:
The purpose of the Engineer, Risk and Assurance is to :
- Provide guidance and direction on safety critical issues and assessing risk associated with the design, construction, operation and maintenance of gas pipeline and distribution assets, and the renewable gas infrastructure.
- Facilitate risk identification, analysis, and evaluation through workshops and subsequent documentation within the business in a manner consistent with corporate risk policies and procedures and asset specific risk frameworks.
- Develop, analyse, evaluate and report on risk controls in order to manage risk to an acceptable level
- Facilitate the external audit program for the safety management system , including the engagement of auditors, engagement of technical regulators and coordination of internal resources.
- Undertake asset-related investigations to analyse potential weaknesses in the safety management systems to assist the business to understand the issues and identify effective controls
- Monitor, report and analyse Jemena’s compliance with all applicable Australian Standards, legislative, regulatory or industry specific compliance obligations.
- Use expertise to improve the efficiency of compliance systems, policies and procedures in order to reduce cost and complexity.
A little about you:
- Tertiary degree or equivalent in engineering, risk, law, commercial or other discipline (essential)
- Engineering qualifications entitling membership (Graduate or Member and Chartered or progressing towards Chartering) of Engineers Australia or equivalent for other disciplines (essential)
- Working exposure to risk management of safety critical assets
- Interest in developing knowledge in risk, compliance and audit Standards and Codes. Working knowledge of AS 2885 Pipelines – Gas and liquid petroleum series and AS 4645 Gas Network Systems Distribution Networks series (as applicable), ISO 55,001 Asset Management System is highly desirable
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Interested in gaining an understanding of the technical regulatory environment – gas pipelines and distribution – NSW and ACT
- Experience in the utilities sector of the Australian energy market (preferable)
- Strategic, methodical, logical and detail-oriented
- Working towards chartering under Engineers Australian Standards or equivalent.
