About the role:

The Procurement and Category Manager plays a crucial role in identifying and managing sourcing opportunities and ensuring contract compliance. They collaborate closely with Procurement & Category Managers and the wider team to enhance sourcing processes and outcomes.

In this role you will engage with suppliers professionally, ensuring contracts adhere to statutory and regulatory requirements, as well as company policies on Procurement, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Community Relations, you will also oversee enterprise-wide sourcing activities, and issue tenders to deliver best value via a category management approach.

This role is for a fixed term for a ten (10) month period with a view to permanency.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage supply base category life cycle, including reviews, performance monitoring, relationship management, analysis, and improvement plans.
  • Advise stakeholders on work forecast, priorities, risks, and opportunities.
  • Utilise Category Management for value-driven sourcing arrangements.
  • Apply best practices for balanced commercial outcomes.
  • Engage stakeholders for operational issues, scopes of work, forecasts, agreements, and supply chain matters.

About you:

The ideal candidate should have prior experience in Commercial or Procurement roles, demonstrating a deep understanding of procurement policy, processes (including tendering, contracting and supplier management), and proficiency in utilizing procurement tools such as SAP, BI Reporting, eTender platform, and ECMS.

  • Qualification in Business, Procurement, Commercial or Supply Chain management, or a related degree.
  • Demonstrated comparable skills and experience in a Procurement function.
  • Strong customer service, stakeholder engagement and support skills.
  • A strong technical understanding of Procurement tools.
