The Opportunity

Are you ready to take charge of workplace health and safety?
John Deere is looking for an empowered Workplace Safety and Health Advisor for our Australia and New Zealand branch!

In this standalone role, you’ll be driving meaningful change as you work directly with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and report to the Head of People & Culture – Au & NZ. You will manage and enhance our safety and health programs, ensuring regulatory standards and fostering a strong safety culture across our Australia New Zealand operations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create and execute safety management processes and initiatives across all sites to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Partner with the business leaders to strengthen a proactive health and safety culture.
  • Promote safe workplace practices and design tailored programs across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Serve as the Workplace Health & Safety representative and Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the business, ensuring compliance with legislative obligations.
  • Conduct WHS inspections/audits, risk assessments, and provide WH&S training and coaching.
  • Ensure effective usage of the Safety Management System to drive effective scheduling, investigations and reporting to ensure a robust governance framework.
  • Act as an SME on health and safety issues, participating in and leading cross-functional projects and the Safety Committees.

Travel: Domestic travel quarterly.

About You

We are looking for a proactive, self-driven individual who is committed to enhancing workplace safety culture. You pride yourself on your ability to work collaboratively and independently, and you have a passion for creating safe working environments.

What Skills You Need:

  • Relevant qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) or related fields.
  • Strong skills in drafting polic.y documents, managing safety reporting, and proposing effective health and safety initiatives and training programs.
  • Proven experience in implementing WHS policies, procedures and initiatives.
  • Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with employees at all levels, including senior management.
  • Excellent coaching, influencing, and partnering skills to effectively drive safety initiatives.
  • A positive, 'can-do' attitude with a focus on constant improvements.

What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively prioritise.
  • Maturity in identifying and addressing risks from a business perspective.

Education / Experience:

  • A degree in Workplace Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related discipline, along with relevant work experience.
