We’re looking for Reach Truck Operators to join us to at our brand new purpose built Distribution Centre in Ruakura.

In this role you'll be operating our reach trucks but also learn how to drive our brand new Straddle crane. Full training will be provided. Once trained, you will rotate between the straddle and reach truck each day.

It's important to note that our straddle cab is 13 metres above ground - you need to be able to climb up and down a ladder to this height several times a day and also be comfortable working at heights for ongoing durations.

You’ll be predominantly working Monday – Friday on day or afternoon shifts, with weekend work during peak periods.


What you'll be doing

  • Operating the reach trucks and straddle safely on day or afternoon shift
  • Operating the container yard management system (CYM) to locate and move containers within the yard
  • Ensuring container plans are set up for the devanning crews
  • Completing and maintaining pre-operational log book checklists
  • Working on our forklifts to move product around the site as required

There will be extensive training for you upon commencement, both on site and simulated, to understand the new site layout and how to operate a Kalmar straddle crane, prior to the DC opening in September.

To be successful in this role you'll have:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in reach truck operation
  • Interest in learning and developing yourself to work on multiple equipment types
  • Experience in fast moving logistical environments
  • Flexibility and willingness to jump between Straddle and DC operations as required
  • A great work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Willingness and ease of working at heights
  • Good communication skills
  • Great time management skills and the ability to work unsupervised
  • The ability to meet deadlines
  • A willingness to follow standard operating procedures
  • Demonstratable adherence to strict health and safety procedures
