About the role

The Planning and Reporting Analyst will be involved in the preparation and delivery of several of the Finance Division’s key outputs. Specifically, the role will be responsible for preparing reports which provide accurate and insightful analysis of the Level Crossing Removal Project’s (LXRP) operational and financial performance for management and key stakeholders.

The role will also prepare budget/forecasts, maintain, and reconcile data in reporting systems, assist with resolving information requests from key stakeholders, support internal control processes and provide accounting support across the LXRP.

On a day-to-day basis you will be building and managing productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as:

  • Preparing reports containing financial and operational information for management and stakeholders which are accurate and provide high quality analysis of the works being conducted by LXRP.
  • Preparing budgets/forecasts for functions within the LXRP and communicate budget advice to staff.
  • Undertaking analysis of forecasts to provide commentary on changes and review the reasonableness and accuracy of the movements.
  • Migrating actual, budget and forecast data between the reporting systems used by the LXRP and then reconcile the data to ensure the integrity of the information held by the systems.
  • Proactively engaging with key internal stakeholders to provide expert advice and drive strategic financial analysis.
  • Supporting the development of budgets and liaise with project teams to identify emerging budget issues including analysis of forecasts, risk uptake and cost/schedule performance.
  • Assisting the Manager Financial Planning & Analysis in delivering month-end and year-end financial reporting and compliance processes, ensuring all activities are delivered within agreed timeframes.

At LXRP we embrace and encourage flexibility, we work in a hybrid capacity, so you will work a mix of office and home. The team works 2 days in the office, with the anchor day being Wednesday plus another day of your choosing, typically Tuesday or Thursday.

We like to work together when it makes sense, so when working from the office you will find yourself in workshops, brainstorms, and real life catch ups with people as you build rapport with your key stakeholders across the business and within the industry.

Our office is based in the Melbourne CBD, and the office environment is lively, collaborative, and exciting. This is a 6-month fixed term position, paying a salary between $106,534 - $128,897 + superannuation.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and possess highly developed communications skills as well as outstanding attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and tasks effectively.

We are also looking for someone who doesn't shy away from team collaboration as well as the confidence to work autonomously and make the role your own!

Let's get technical! What will we expect from you?

  • Intermediate Office 365 skills, particularly in relation to Excel.
  • Intermediate skills in the use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools is desirable. Experience with Oracle in a project environment will be highly regarded.
  • A sound understanding of the accounting and budgeting principles and standards as applied in the government or corporate sector.
