ABOUT THE ROLE

Drive technical and digital strategies across maintenance, cybersecurity, app development, and more, ensuring robust and secure operations. Your role will focus on the TCMS Hardware Refresh and Frontend Upgrade Project, removing obsolescence risks and maintaining seamless train operations. Lead risk-based decision-making in engineering governance, supporting major projects and upgrades. As a System Safety Assurance SME, you'll develop, review, and ensure compliance with safety and system assurance standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the review and support of technical systems safety assurance for OCMS Signalling Escrow Program and related boards, ensuring compliance with entry and exit criteria, documentation of technical risks, and management of change submissions.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive Risk and Safety Assurance program specifically for the OCMS Signalling Escrow Program. This includes producing necessary safety documentation and managing system safety assurance processes across the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all activities comply with legislative and regulatory requirements, and MTM’s Safety Management Systems. Produce and deliver key system assurance documentation, such as Assurance Case Reports and Safety Cost Benefit Analysis.
  • Conduct system safety analyses using methods like PHA, SHA, SWIFT, FMEA, and HAZOP. Develop and maintain detailed project risk and safety assurance plans and risk registers as per MTM's Projects Assurance Framework.
  • Oversee the delivery of Engineering and Operational Safety Cases and manage escalation of technical engineering issues.
  • Maintain effective communication with MTM peers, regulators, and other stakeholders. Facilitate risk and project-related meetings and ensure project staff and contractors are well-versed in MTM risk procedures.
  • Support variations in MTM’s rail safety regulator accreditation and manage other duties as assigned by management, ensuring proactive project and risk management.

ABOUT YOU

  • Tertiary qualification in Systems or Safety Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical capacity within a rail environment.
  • Experience in either design, construction and/or maintenance phases.
  • Experience of interpreting complex technical diagrams, specifications and plans across a range of technical disciplines.
  • Experience with Complex issue management (interpret, analyse and solving) across a range of technical disciplines.
  • Experience with risk management processes and in the use of Microsoft software packages.
