About the role

You will be part of the Strategic Asset Management team, developing the strategic aspects of asset management to increase asset reliability and maintain safety across the rail infrastructure, rolling stock, and operational control systems maintenance divisions.

We are seeking an experienced and visionary System Engineer to develop and lead our systems engineering practice, with a strong focus on asset management. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our engineering efforts and driving the successful delivery of complex maintenance. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement Systems Engineering Practices: Establish and lead the systems engineering practice, including defining methodologies, processes, and tools to ensure consistency and excellence in maintenance execution.
  • Asset Management: Develop and implement robust asset management strategies, ensuring optimal utilization, maintenance, and lifecycle management of railway assets. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate asset management best practices into the systems maintenance framework.
  • Leadership and Team Building: Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Provide guidance and support to ensure the team's continuous growth and development.
  • Lifecycle Management: Oversee the lifecycle of maintenance activities, from asset acquisition to asset disposal. Ensure lifecycle plans are maintained and asset class reliability monitored. Develop action plans to maintain reliability.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional maintenance teams, Rolling Stock, Infrastructure and Operational Control Management Systems to ensure seamless integration of systems engineering and asset management principles into lifecycle management.
  • Project Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations and maintenance management, design, development, and quality assurance to ensure seamless integration of systems engineering and asset management principles into all stages of project development.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Continuously seek opportunities to innovate and improve our systems engineering and asset management practices.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor or Master of Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Experience in asset management is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in systems engineering methodologies, tools, and software. Strong understanding of system engineering standards, integration, validation, and asset management.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities.
