About the team
Corporate Servicesteams at Metro are responsible for providing essential support services that enable the business to function efficiently and effectively. From Safety and People, Marketing and Communication, to Finance and Legal, and IT. Our Corporate Services teams work collaboratively to ensure that the business operates smoothly and as one team.
About the role
The Senior Sourcing and Category Manager is responsible for the development, deployment and management of category management strategies to deliver sustained value and competitive advantage to business units and Metro Trains Melbourne overall. Further responsibilities include:
- Lead a small team to deliver on the four components of the Procurement and Supply Chain Value Proposition.
- Deliver value for money for the business.
- Improve supplier performance.
- Improve the user experience and operations excellence.
- Manage supplier risk across over 1,000 suppliers.
About you
- Relevant experience across procurement/supply chain fields with deep understanding of procurement methodologies as applied within a sourcing & category management framework.
- Highly effective communicator with strong skills in both verbal and written communication.
- Tertiary education within areas of business, finance or similar.
- Relevant industry and supply market knowledge
- Experience in complex sourcing, contract preparation, Contract negotiation/execution, Contract management, Supplier development/management.
- Experience in leading and developing people and/or leading cross functional teams.
- Proven ability to identify and deliver total cost reduction and efficiency opportunities.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, adapt, and assist others to manage to changing requirements.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to conduct analysis of the cost and capability of Metro’s suppliers and supply markets.
- Rail industry knowledge is preferred.
