About the position

The Training Officer (Electrical) is responsible for researching, developing, and delivering the technical training required to ensure necessary knowledge is transferred to Rolling Stock maintenance staff to maintain the X’Trapolis 2.0 train type.

In this permanent full time position you will be required to travel to multiple locations within Melbourne for module development and delivery – mainly across Craigieburn, North Melbourne, and our new depot when ready, Kananook.

Main duties include

  • Develop training course material from Alstom’s maintenance manuals, design documents and training material provided.
  • Conduct research and liaise with Engineering and Project Teams to acquire the necessary knowledge of X’Trapolis 2.0 train systems to provide effective and accurate training material.
  • Develop training courses which contain theoretical and practical training.
  • Support the development of maintenance methods and instructions.
  • Ensure training compliance with the Enterprise Agreement, National Training Packages, and all applicable legal requirements.
  • Structure the training courses to be effective, efficient, and which mitigate impacts on existing fleet maintenance requirements.
  • Delivery of training material to maintenance staff on the new train fleet, which align to training maps and competency profiles required for a modern train.
  • Provide reports and advice on the training delivery progress and effectiveness for the MTM leadership team.
  • Work at multiple locations as required.

About you

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – mandatory.
  • Certificate III in Electrical Trade – mandatory.
  • Proven Experience in a Rolling Stock Maintenance Environment or equivalent field – mandatory.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Work as an effective part of a diverse team.
  • Experience in developing training programs.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple resources to achieve required outcomes.
  • Ability to utilise analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills.
