  • Salary commencing at $43.94 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience
  • Play a key role in the delivery of reader services and programs for adults at Moonee Valley Libraries.

The Opportunity

This position is an opportunity to play a key role in the development and delivery of author and literary events for adults in Moonee Valley. Working as part of a professional and friendly team, you will provide high quality customer service and collection support, including collection development of our Book Clubs program to ensure it meets the demands of the community of Moonee Valley City Council. Shifts are as below:

Monday: 12pm - 8pm (1-hour unpaid break)

Tuesday - Thursday: 9am - 5pm (1-hour unpaid break)

One in three Saturday morning: 10am - 12pm.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Flemington Library Team Leader, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure library opening and closing procedures are correctly implemented when rostered at the beginning or end of the day.
  • Undertake customer service duties as rostered, including working at different library locations, to support the efficient operation of the library service.
  • Co-ordinate the Book Clubs program including managing an annual schedule.
  • In consultation with the Programs team, develop, deliver, and evaluate a range of programs and events to meet the learning and recreational needs of the community.
  • Encourage the use of adult collections by engaging in reader services activities, and promotions.
  • Contribute to the successful operation of the library service by assisting colleagues and supervisors to meet the strategic objectives of Library and Learning.

Skills & Experience

  • A tertiary qualification acceptable for professional membership (librarian) of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), such as a degree in library/information management.
  • Experience in developing and delivering community programs is essential.
  • Experience in library collection management is desirable.
