The Opportunity
The Playgroup Development and Projects Officer is a key member of the Family and Children Services team and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to support and enhance the delivery of our community run playgroups.
As a Playgroup Development and Projects Officer, you will actively engage with the local community to provide opportunities for eligible families to develop parenting skills and confidence within a safe and supportive playgroup environment. You will review, analyse and provide recommendations for improving our programs through active involvement in the programs and wider municipality.
Some key responsibilities include:
- Map and analyse playgroups across the municipality and report and act on opportunities and areas of need. Advise internally on 'places and spaces' to improve the range and quality of venues available for playgroups.
- Ensure playgroups, programs and projects are administered in accordance with Council's policies and risk management requirements.
- Maintain seamless venue hire processes and procedures that specifically support and inform playgroups and keep oversight of the administration of this with the support of a Business Support Officer.
- Collaborate with community playgroups to deliver evidence-based learning through play for children.
Key Skills & Experience
- Secondary or tertiary qualification relating to Children's Services, Social Work or a similar related field.
- Demonstrated experience and a working knowledge of play-based programs for children aged 0 - 6 years that deliver strong outcomes for children.
- Demonstrated experience in working in partnership with the community and a range of stakeholders to deliver appropriate programs.
- Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, resolve issues and problem solve.
- Experience in planning for and responding to the emerging and changing needs of the community.
- Current Working with Children Check and Victorian Drivers License.
