Job Summary

In this exciting time of growth, we’re currently in search of a Graduate Software Engineer to join our Development team here at Instaclustr (www.instaclustr.com). Now part of the CloudOps division of NetApp, we provide open-source applications as-a-service, delivering reliability at scale. We manage cutting edge open-source technologies (Cassandra, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Valkey, OpenSearch, Cadence and Clickhouse) for our customers around the world. 

We make it easy for our customers to run powerful open-source applications at the highest levels of scale. We have developed a platform that takes care of the whole lifecycle: provisioning infrastructure, installing applications and, most importantly, keeping the applications running reliably in production. Our customers run 24x7 and our business does too, with our operations team spread across the globe to supply fast, expert support and operational responses.   

As a Graduate Software Engineer, you'll be working within a development team of between 3 to 8 team members. You will gain the opportunity to work on some truly cutting-edge technologies, expanding your knowledge and learning! To keep you motivated and excited about the work you are completing, our software engineers are rotated between development teams, granting you exposure to a variety of technologies, experiences and perspectives. 

Job Requirements

  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong experience in one or more modern programming languages and a willingness to learn more. (Our development teams predominantly use Java)
  • A working knowledge of SQL 
  • Humble and collaborative nature, with the ability to work harmoniously within multiple teams. 
  • A keen interest in how customers benefit from the work you undertake
  • Good communication skills
  • Eagerness to face new challenges which will grow your software engineering skills
  • Ability to attend the Canberra or Melbourne office (usually at least two days per week)
  • Right to work in Australia 
  • Expected start date: 28th Jan 2025

Education and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in software engineering or computer science (or other related discipline).
    Please supply your academic transcript with your application.

  • 0-2 years of commercial experience delivering quality software and solving challenging technical problems
