Newcrest Mining are seeking a Project Planning Lead, to lead development and manage all aspects of planning & scheduling activities for the Tailings Project Alliance, part of the Cadia Integrated Tailings Project – a significant portfolio program of civil works execution; to safely a major upgrade of the Tailings Dam for Australia’s largest gold mine at Cadia.

Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for
The Project Planning Lead is responsible to ensure:
- Adherence to the schedule management plan including basis of schedule and basis of estimate
- Development and updates to the Master Schedule incl. maintaining alignment of all sub-contractor schedules
- Integration with the Commercial Superintendent and their cost management plan
- Monitoring all associated detailed schedules, providing accurate reports on progress, variance to plan, root causes and remedial actions
- Monitoring the greater environment in order to identify potential risks to the schedule
- Demonstrate absolute commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment by supporting the Tailings Project Alliance Safety Management System ensuring a safety-first work culture.
Our ideal candidate will demonstrate significant project planning & scheduling experience against all execution phases for major civil earthworks projects, ideally in a leadership role. Your in-depth understanding of civil earthworks activities will enable you to accurately forecast planning against project schedule and resource requirements across the full project cycle, to close-out and handover.
You will also possess the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or similar related discipline), highly advantageous
- Significant Project Planning & Scheduling experience in a senior-level or leadership role - for major construction projects is essential (ideally alliance civil earthworks eg: dams / roads / rail)
- Demonstrated understanding of project management methodologies across the full project cycle, under an alliance delivery model
- Expert level proficiency with Primavera P6 / PRISM scheduling
- Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills; Experience in applying your strengths in analysis and problem solving in order to develop business solutions.
- Significant stakeholder management experience.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment, with demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Willingness to be located in Orange NSW, or work a suitable FIFO roster
