About the role

Based at our Newstead office, the Assistant Technical Officer will play a critical role in assisting in the development, implementation, evaluation and continued improvement of policies and policy frameworks for the PBS scheme, including contributing to safety outcomes.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

Support the delivery of an efficient and accurate approval application process including alignment to business priorities within the safety and productivity team.

  • Review, assess and determine PBS (performance-based standards) applications, applying the assessment rules and policy frameworks.
  • Provide advice to customers about the PBS (performance-based standards) approval process, vehicle standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver exceptional service to external and internal stakeholders and customers via the provision of accurate information in a clear and effective manner and ensure risks are identified and managed.
  • Contribute to process improvements and demand management strategies.
  • Ensure NHVR stakeholders receive accurate PBS (performance-based standards) advice which leads to cooperative compliance and enforcement regarding vehicle regulations

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess

  • 3+ years’ experience within administration / policy
  • Knowledge of or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire sound knowledge of PBS (performance-based standards) assessment rules, vehicle standards, inspection techniques and relevant legislation.
  • Ability to resolve routine technical issues.
  • Ability to negotiate and influence stakeholders with a view of achieving desired outcomes
  • Sound problem solving and analytical skills.
