We’re looking for a collaborative and engaging experienced HSE Specialist to join our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team based in Laverton North at our Major Hazard Facility (MHF) Manufacturing Plant, reporting to the Site HSE Manager.

In this exciting role you’ll be fully immersed in the site’s day to day HSE needs and support, engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that collaborative HSE strategies are implemented, and maintaining the site Safety Management System. You will contribute by influencing and motivating our employees and contractors on safety initiatives and improvements

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting the integration of H&S requirements into project planning, permitting, design, construction, commissioning, and operations.
  • Performing site HSE assessments and inspections to identify site conditions and develop mitigation strategies
  • Providing technical assistance within HSE teams and to other project groups (including Capital Projects) regarding risk assessment, plan preparation, and HSE program execution.
  • Assisting in the implementation of the project Health Safety and Environment Plan and associated plans and procedures.
  • Participating in emergency response, investigation and resolution of HSE incidents.
  • Assisting with HSE monitoring, sampling, and inspections to confirm compliance with permits and project requirements and commitments.
  • Assisting and supports HSE training for project/facility employees and visitors.
  • Participating in meetings with Operations team members, and contractors and subcontractors to advise them of HSE requirements that may affect their work.
  • Performing and supports data management, trend analysis, and report preparation and reviews.
  • Conduct regular in-field proactive interactions with the wider Pipe Road manufacturing team to ensure HSE systems and processes are adhered to.
  • Providing effective leadership and subject matter expertise in HSE continuous improvement and sharing of best practices at Pipe Road.
  • Assisting other team members in HSE program execution, inclusive of safety and health.
  • Other duties assigned by the HSE Lead to provide compliance support to the HSE Management Plan and processes.
  • Actively promote a positive safety culture and interdependent teamwork.

What do you bring?

The successful candidate shall be a qualified and experienced HSE professional who brings strong values, culture and skills to the organisation. You bring an in-depth knowledge in OHS, Workcover, Dangerous Goods, and Major Hazard Facilities. Experience in the chemical manufacturing industry and a major hazards environment is beneficial.
