About the role:

As a Terminal Operator, you play a key role in ensuring the on-time departure of trains and efficient turnaround times of trucks from the terminal. In this role you will participate in a 24/7 rotating shift roster, working 12-hour shifts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working within our terminal depot including outdoor movements
  • Forklift and gantry crane operation.
  • Shunting and train examination duties associated with arrival, departure, marshalling and preparation of trains.
  • Inspection of trains and equipment during train operations.
  • Ensure security and general housekeeping is maintained throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) standards and obligations are satisfied.

Teamwork is critical as our Terminal Operators are responsible for the coordination, planning, efficient assembly and dismantling of trains within the terminal, our teams work together and assist each other to ensure our trains leave on time.

About You

You are passionate about safety ensuring all work movements are undertaken as per safety processes with the ability to stay aware of yourself and others in a fast-paced work environment. You will also have the ability to multitask and change priorities as required and work well within a team to ensure tasks are completed on time and customer requirements are met. You will be happy working outdoors and enjoy the work/life balance shift work offers.

In additional you will require the following skills and experience:

  • Current LF licence (Forklift)
  • Current gantry crane licence is an advantage
  • Strong commitment to enforce a safety culture
  • Be able to work in a dynamic 24/7 shift work environment with flexibility and commitment.
  • Excellent communication skills and team focus.
  • Hold a current motor vehicle license and have a good mechanical aptitude.
