Asset Planning Specialist

About the role

The Asset Planning Specialist has key accountability for the effective planning of all rollingstock (Locomotive and wagon) maintenance within a dedicated portfolio. Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Collaborate with internal teams and third-party maintenance providers to align asset maintenance schedules with resource availability across a 24-hour to one-month timeframe, ensuring seamless operations
  • Reassess and adjust planned maintenance activities affected by operational disruptions or unforeseen incidents
  • Arranging effective & efficient deployment of our asset and labour resources to meet the customer service plan and allow maximum asset utilisation and availability
  • Monitoring and scheduling our rolling asset maintenance regimes and adjusting events to make the best use of our available maintainer and facility resources

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate strong analytical ability and a commitment to problem-solving, coupled with an innovative and creative thinking style. Agility is key for this role as you will be required to respond to and amend plans as changes occur across the operations.

High-level communication is essential, with verbal, written and interpersonal skills integral to success in this role. Ideal applicants will need to demonstrate relationship management strengths as a collaborative team player with clear evidence of your ability to build successful stakeholder relationships.

In addition:

  • Previous experience in maintenance and/or asset planning/scheduling is highly regarded
  • The proven ability to find and/or create efficiency in given plans or schedules
  • Relevant demonstrated experience in the planning/service delivery aspect of complex operations
  • Strong attention to detail
