In this role you will perform the routine preparation and analysis of refinery and customer samples by instrumental techniques such as ICP-OES, Spark-OES, XRF, titration and classical wet chemical techniques as required.
Your role as a Technician Assay will involve:
- Performs receipt, registration and preparation of refinery customer and product samples
- Performs routine analysis of customer deposits, refined products, effluent, environmental, process and electrolyte samples by instrumental techniques such as ICP-OES, Spark-OES, XRF, titration and wet chemical techniques as required
- Prepares working stock, calibration and reagent solutions as directed
- Performs regular routine maintenance on existing analytical instruments
- Conducts and records daily instrument performance checks in accordance with standard operating procedures
- Assists Fire Assay coordinator bullion at peak times as directed by Senior Development Chemist
- Undertakes test work under the direction of senior development chemist with a view to making improvements in efficiency, accuracy and productivity in the laboratory. Assists in the commissioning of new equipment
- Ensure own safety and health at work and avoid adversely affecting the safety or health of any other person through any act or omission at work
- Avoid adversely impacting the environment through any act or omission at work and report identified environmental hazards and incidents
Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Minimum of; Diploma of Laboratory Technology or equivalent
- High level of attention to detail and time management
- Enjoys working collaboratively with others, and possesses strong emotional intelligence
- MS Office proficiency/computer literacy, and strong numeracy and data analysis skills
