About us

At CitiPower and Powercor and United Energy, we’re proud to deliver electricity to 2 million Victorian customers every day through our network of poles and wires. But more than that, we’re here to power communities, support local businesses and keep critical services running smoothly, we’re essential to them all – and none of this happens without our people. As Victorians electrify everything from homes to transport, we’re focused on ensuring our networks are ready to meet that demand. If you want to be part of something essential, be essential with us.

About the role

The Network Availability Officer undertakes the initial reporting to Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) of reportable serious electrical safety incidents (during business hours), which is critical in meeting our regulatory reporting obligations.

These responsibilities include the verification of technical information to accurately report incidents relating to the CitiPower (CP), Powercor (PAL) and Australian Energy Operations (AEO) networks in accordance with regulatory reporting requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Collate the necessary reportable information relating to serious electrical incidents from direct discussions with the attending crews
  • Notify reportable incidents to ESV via a phone call “as soon as practicable” and coordinate site preservation requirements where applicable
  • Prepare and submit appropriate notifications and reporting (via internal reporting systems) on reportable incidents relating to the CP, PAL and AEO networks
  • Ensure the accurate, timely and consistent capture and reporting of electrical safety incidents to meet regulatory and internal reporting requirements
  • Communicate relevant network safety reporting obligations to all key stakeholders.
  • Liaise with attending crews to obtain required information and details related to reportable incidents.
  • Communicate in a clear and concise manner to internal parties and external regulatory authorities.

For more information on the role’s responsibilities, please click here to download the position description.

What you’ll need from day one

  • Relevant electrical qualifications such as certificate, trade qualification or degree
  • Strong working knowledge of the electrical network.
  • Awareness of requirements of electricity safety legislation and other guidance material.

If you believe you have what it takes but don’t meet every requirement—or if you’d like to discuss flexible working arrangements to meet the key responsibilities —we encourage you to get in touch.
