Powerlink Queensland, Queensland’s HV transmission provider, is currently experiencing a period of unprecedented growth. Our project portfolio is expanding in size, complexity and scope with multiple innovative projects supporting Queensland renewable energy targets. As our Network Management Applications Software Engineer, you will support the development and delivery of applications and solutions critical to Powerlink’s real-time operational technology.

About the role
This role involves delivering high-quality, high-availability software solutions in the areas of High Voltage (HV) networks, telecommunications network management, operations, and data analysis. Your responsibilities will include ensuring timely delivery of software services to Powerlink and its customers. You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from identifying problems and gathering requirements to developing solutions, implementation, testing and providing ongoing support.

In addition, you will have the following key responsibilities:

  • Leading the delivery and implementation of software solutions
  • Taking a lead role in developing IT solution architecture/designs, analysing application performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Producing project/task scope and estimates for application software solutions on time and accurately representing customer requirements.
  • Coordinating application design, test, and commissioning tasks using project management skills to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Assisting in the development of security requirements for platforms or systems.
  • Participating in providing 24x7 support for the solutions supported by the team.

About you
Your success in the role will depend on your outstanding ingenuity, proven experience of providing high quality outcomes, along with your ability to effectively communicate and lead the development of solutions to technical problems from concept to completion. You will be working closely with subject matter experts designing, improving, implementing and maintaining new technologies that improve operational efficiency of Powerlink network systems.

You will also have proven capability with your:

  • Significant knowledge of software development with demonstrated experience in web application, API and application development.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with C#, in particular .NET Core and ASP.NET web development.
  • Ability to implement software solutions in a variety of different programming languages.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with relational database and document orientated systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with version control tools, DevOps/ automated deployment tools and configuration management tools.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing secure software development practices.

Essential to the role;

  • Tertiary qualification(s) in Information Technology or electrical/electronic engineering, or demonstrated equivalent experience in the operation of engineering applications.
