The Mine Manager (SSE) is responsible and accountable for leading and motivating site operational activities at our Kunwarara mine safely, effectively across all the mine’s metrics in line with the QMAG values.

This position will also be a member the company’s Senior Leader Team (SLT) and as such has oversight and contribution to the greater QMAG business, assisting to deliver the QMAG vision and strategic goals.

About You

Your knowledge and skills are vital to your success in this role. Your experience will also include:

  • Extensive experience in leadership roles within mining or heavy industry, with a strong resume of developing and mentoring a diverse high performing team
  • Experience and focus on executing delivering within financial budgets. Attention to detail with cost control and compliance
  • Exposure to modern management systems and their application with a proven success record of problem-solving complex issues
  • Experience in managing projects from inception to completion
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating, contributing to, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with all stakeholders

About The Role

As the Mine Manager (SSE), you will:

  • Ensure compliance to all statutory/regulatory requirements through the development of annual plans that include actions, reporting and auditing and tenement management
  • Provide business leadership by providing the resources in accordance with QMAG’s systems, policies and procedures and reporting
  • Provide business leadership to establish and implement effect programs and processes to improve labour effectiveness, operational costs, product quality, employee relations, optimize inventory levels
  • Lead & promote the implementation Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement strategies across the mine, plant & maintenance
  • Develop and maintain good relations with neighbour’s, community, contractors, all relevant government bodies (local, state and federal)
  • Lead the development and ongoing executional management of the Kunwarara mine budget
  • Lead the prompt reporting and investigation of all accidents, incidents, (including near misses), and breaches of company policies and/or procedures.

The Requirements

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Formal qualifications in Management and/or Engineering
  • RII50120 - Diploma of Surface Operations Management or higher
  • RIIRIS501E - Implement and Maintain Management Systems to Control Risk
  • Authorised to hold the Statutory Site Senior Executive position in QLD
  • Training in continuous improvement or best practice techniques
  • 10 years minimum experience leading operational teams and operations
