About us
As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

Purpose of the role
Workforce Development engages with our people, to provide support for individual and collective capability development in the areas of leadership and professional development, fairness, equity and inclusion. This encompasses the development and review of related policies, strategies and programs that support our people to manage, embrace and enhance workforce performance as part of the QFES Leadership Framework; Fairness, Equity and Inclusion Framework; and Positive Performance Management principles outlined in section 85 of the Public Sector Act 2022.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of the team contributing to the development review and implementation of innovative technology solutions, policies, contemporary leadership programs, and management and inclusion products that support individual and collective capabilities and workforce development initiatives and programs.

- Knowledge and/or experience in online communication, web content management (SharePoint) and/or in using technology to support adult learning and development programs.
- Experience with the delivery of training and coaching conversations.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting key frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to:
- Assist in the design, implementation and support of best practice approaches, frameworks and guidelines for workforce life cycle development initiatives and solutions.
- Use technology to design and establish workflows and processes to maximise user experience while maintaining governance requirements.
- Design, develop, evaluate and review workforce development learning items, resources and marketing initiatives to ensure programs and experiences meet organisational requirements.
- Assist in the research, preparation and review of reports, briefs, submissions and other correspondence, relating to leadership programs and initiatives in accordance with departmental requirements and governance.
- Liaise, consult and develop effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and partners to acquire an understanding of development needs to build leadership and management capability.
- Provide advice and support to key stakeholders in relation to leadership and development programs and resources, and use evidence-based findings to identify opportunities for continuous improvement that enhance personal learning pathways.
- Support project initiatives and contribute to the delivery and coordination of training, coaching and a range of workshops to ensure effective service delivery and achieve business objectives.
