Production Planner - Armour Shop
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
About the Team
As a Production Planner, you will be part of the planning team reporting into the Senior Production Planner located onsite near the production line.
About the Role
The Production Planner will support the Project Manager Operations in defining and maintaining the relevant Production Schedules and SAP Production Orders for all current vehicle production programs.
The Production Planner will collaborate with the production, material management and configuration management teams to continually optimise the production schedule relative to manufacturing capacity, material availability and customer delivery schedules. The Production Planner will produce and present all relevant schedule and planning status reports to the Weapons & Munitions leadership team.
The general and generic duties of the Production Planner include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and co-ordinate an 8 week protection system level detailed schedule (where require) with the Project Manager Operations and Area Manager Amour shop;
- Maintain the overall production schedule for all current armour shop requirements;
- Build, maintain, schedule and release of all relevant production orders in SAP;
- Ensure tractability within Armour shop technologies is maintained;
- Lead the management of material availability per production order in line with schedule.
- Report on component shortage requirements to the relevant Material Co-coordinator or Procurement Specialist and advise any delays to the production schedule.
- Report significant issues or delays to the current schedule AM and PMO.
- Provide solutions if relevant for the current accuracy of the production schedule.
- Develop standardised production scheduling and material availability status reports for management reporting;
- Release / call off material orders for Armour shop production orders in SAP (Where required);
- Maintain the close down process of production order for completion of all production orders;
- Generate delivery documentation to the warehouse when required;
- Develop and manage all rework orders in SAP;
- Maintain and develop high quality relationships with the international Rheinmetall production teams to share information and lessons learned;
- Ensure compliance with RDA’s Health, Safety & Environment Policy requirements, and in general take any reasonable steps and precautions to protect or minimise harm to the workplace, its employees and the environment; and
- Fulfil other duties and responsibilities that may be required as determined with your manager from time to time.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- 2 years + experience in a similar production planning role within a complex program / vehicle production environment or other high-volume manufacturing environment;
- Practical hands-on approach with good mechanical aptitude E.g. the ability to understand the vehicle assembly process;
- Advanced MS Office Applications (Word, (Excel – Gantt charts, macros & pivot tables), PowerPoint, MS Project, Outlook);
- Significant Production ERP system experience E.g. SAP, JDE or similar;
- Currently hold or the ability to gain the appropriate Australian Security Clearance.
