The role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Components Technician to join the team at our Heatherbrae facility. In the role you will be required to perform high quality assessments and repairs of various Sandvik components and complete general workshop duties as required. Working within our Production, Research & Development (PRD) Centre – previous experience working on transmissions, converters, upboxes/ dropboxes and axles is preferred.

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate technical understanding of Sandvik equipment. Your application of a proactive approach to ensuring machine performance will assist our customers to improve their productivity and the success of their operations, ensuring that we further expand our customer base in the area and the growth of the support team.

As a technician, you will be performing inspections and repairs on a range of specialist mining equipment. Including but not limited to:

  • Individual components from Sandvik machines
  • Ancillary UG equipment

To support you we will supply product training and the support of our dedicated products support personnel.

The role will work on a 4-day roster from Heatherbrae Site, on night shift working hours 3:20pm-12:50am with night shift working.

Areas of responsibility

  • To perform work in a safe manner in a team environment
  • Adhere to all Sandvik EHS and environmental policies and procedures
  • Maintenance and Servicing Equipment.
  • Plan for correct tools and parts required to perform tasks, according to work procedures.
  • Commissioning of products that includes quality inspections and commissioning/ dyno testing.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and solve common problems, as a first line support.
  • Uses knowledge and experience to solve standard problems for customers.
  • Understands system functionality and interactions of hydraulics /mechanics/ electrics/ automation/ pneumatics/materials.
  • Complete maintenance reports for internal and external stakeholders e.g., report and document on maintenance and/or repairs completed.
  • Occasionally collect technical feedback in Sales Area (inputs into Database).
  • Assigns simple tasks to junior staff and guides them in completing them.
  • Ensures that routine work procedures (using the tools provided), are carried out according to safety standards.
  • Adhere to all policies & procedures especially the EHS policies.
  • Work effectively either in a team environment or autonomously.

Your profile

  • Relevant Trade Qualification is desirable or relevant work experience
  • Valid Driver’s License (compulsory)
  • Forklift license
  • Dogmen / Rigger Ticket - desirable
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Flexible to work with customer requirements, procedures, and safety policies
  • Positive attitude and a high level of determination to achieve targets set for customer satisfaction
  • Attention to detail and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • You are proactive self-motivated and demonstrate initiative
  • Ability to learn and use digital mobile tools and applications
