The Role

Based at the Cooma office of Snowy Hydro Limited, the role of Project Design Engineer – Structural involves overseeing the civil/structural engineering aspects of the Snowy 2.0 project. Key responsibilities include conducting design reviews, performing design calculations, scrutinizing drawings, creating technical specifications, assessing constructability, and offering technical support throughout the construction phase.

Responsibilities include:

Conducting design reviews of the Contractor's submissions and contributing to the final review of the design package under the guidance of the Lead Engineer.

Assisting the Design Package Lead in coordinating and resolving design issues with the Contractor and other consultants, following the Lead Engineer's direction.

Providing technical support for site clarifications, requests for information, and design verifications under the Lead Engineer's supervision.

Assisting in developing practical on-site solutions to civil/structural design challenges and providing feedback on drawings under the Lead Engineer's oversight.

Conducting site visits and inspections as required.

Upholding the highest standards of health and safety performance by implementing safety plans, demonstrating Snowy Hydro Values, setting an example for colleagues and team members, and actively participating as a client in accordance with SHL Health & Safety policies.

You'll Bring To The Team:
A bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering or a related field, along with experience spanning structural design, civil construction, and underground works, you'll also bring valuable expertise in hydropower, power generation, distribution, construction, and commissioning processes. Your ability to collaborate effectively in diverse, multi-disciplinary teams facilitates seamless knowledge sharing. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, allow you to articulate information and ideas clearly to diverse audiences. You also align closely with Snowy Hydro's core values of Safety, Decency, Teamwork, Agility, Courage, and Ownership.
