ABOUT OUR PERTH OFFICE

South32’s corporate office is based in the heart of Perth’s CBD. The corporate office houses key functions including HR, Finance, External Affairs, Sustainability Strategy, Corporate Development, Investor Relations, Group Risk, Legal and Technical. Our office is conveniently located a 5-minute walk from the Perth Underground Train Station.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent full-time position, preferably based in Perth. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)

As Team Lead for Data Products & Analytics, you will oversee the delivery and adoption of data products across our organisation. You'll manage a team of data product owners, collaborate with various partners, and work closely with data teams to ensure products deliver value. Your strategic mindset will be crucial in aligning data initiatives with business goals and aligning data product needs with the data platform roadmap.. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to drive a culture of data-driven decision-making throughout the company.

Reporting to the Manager Data Analytics, key responsibilities include:

  • Guide the team's vision and strategy, championing data products & analytics across the organisation and ensuring their alignment with both strategic goals and user needs
  • Foster a data product culture, working closely with stakeholders to qualify opportunities, develop roadmaps, and integrate analytics into business processes
  • Collaborate with governance and platform teams to maintain best practices while overseeing methodologies that ensure data products deliver valuable outcomes
  • Lead and develop your team, managing performance, coaching members, and cultivating a community of practice that encourages innovation and learning
  • Build and nurture relationships across operations and functions, acting as a senior subject matter expert in data analytics and product thinking
  • Oversee the lifecycle of data products, from creation to decommission, ensuring continuous value delivery and improved organisational understanding of data platforms and governance

ABOUT YOU

You will ideally have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Collaborative leader with a talent for guiding cross-functional teams and fostering a culture of excellence
  • Passionate problem-solver, leveraging analytics to transform business challenges into meaningful outcomes
  • Enthusiastic adopter of modern product practices, with a foundational understanding of data engineering and architecture
  • Tech-savvy communicator, comfortable with SQL, Python, or equivalent languages to bridge technical and business perspectives
  • Articulate visionary, adept at conveying complex ideas and driving innovation in data products and analytics
  • Strategic thinker with a curiosity for continuous improvement, ideally familiar with the resources sector

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or related field is preferred
