The role of the Mechanical Team Lead is suited to a proactive individual who is looking to take the next step in their career. We are ideally seeking a qualified candidate with substantial experience across all project sizes from low rise to high rise building projects. We are involved in a broad range of project types that include data centres, health, laboratories, industrial, education and infrastructure.
You will be responsible for the management and strategic direction of all aspects of the Mechanical Team for the Buildings Group, providing support to Project Engineers to ensure the team is consistently focussed in delivery of technical excellence and keeping on track with quality, schedule, and budget. You will represent the company externally to our clients and play an active role in building and managing relationships, whilst reinforcing cultural behaviours across the Mechanical Team and the New Zealand Buildings Group. You will enjoy a diverse position and will need to have the ability to multitask and share your time between project delivery, business development, section performance and management responsibilities.
Day to day tasks would involve:
Management of current and future workloads within the Mechanical Section to achieve attainment of financial targets whilst ensuring high staff morale.
Mechanical design for a range of building projects, providing reports, studies, design calculations, drawings and specifications.
Support and offer guidance to Project Engineers, Engineers and Graduate Engineers to enable them to perform successfully at all levels.
Ensure that the Mechanical Section maintains an appropriate level of service to key Clients.
Design, documentation and superintendence including project review, liaison with client and consultant team, liaison with authorities, reporting, contract administration and quality audits.
Support and contribute to the discipline leadership teams and develop Stantec engineering systems.
Adhere to professional standards, ethics and Stantec quality procedures.

Qualifications
About you | E pā ana ki a koe
To be successful for this role you'll need:
Previous experience in a Consulting environment within the Building services industry
Knowledge of the New Zealand Building Code and relevant Australian and New Zealand Standards
Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, and ideally a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in the engineering industry or consulting.
Willingness to establish and maintain strong client relationships to formulate repeat opportunities
Ability to multitask between project involvement, Section performance and management responsibilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Chartered Professional Engineer (or equivalent) and/or Producer Statement Author would be favourable, but not essential.
