The Role:

As the Senior Legal Counsel, you will take a leading role in supporting the Legal Services and Insurance Manager to provide legal support and work collaboratively with both Operational and Project teams across various disciplines.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively applying legal risk management and building effective relationships with all stakeholders
  • Providing strategic, high-quality and solutions-focussed legal advice
  • Managing the legal aspects of major projects within Sunwater’s asset portfolio
  • Proactively managing a direct report.

About you:

We are seeking an experienced professional admitted as a solicitor or barrister in QLD with an unrestricted practising certificate. You will have demonstrated technical skills in most (but not necessarily all) of the following disciplines: major projects including construction and procurement delivery models and contracts (highly regarded), planning and environment law and approval pathways, property law, work place health and safety including public safety.

In addition, you will have:

  • At least 5 years post admission experience in a relevant field within any top tier or recognised mid-tier Australian practice, or in-house legal position.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and deliver quality outcomes in accordance with agreed timeframes
  • Significant experience working autonomously and proactively to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking skills and the ability to communicate with influence.
