Provide strategic guidance and oversight on risk management, compliance policies, and regulatory matters for regulated and unregulated activities. Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, including ASIC, and manage all engagements, ensuring adherence to regulatory obligations. Lead the design and execution of risk assessments in areas including AML/KYC, consumer protection and data protection assessments, to align with local regulatory requirements. Maintain and update risk registers, facilitate workshops and provide training to embed a strong compliance and risk culture across the organisation. Build and mentor a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
To be successful you will have:
Relevant experience in risk management, compliance, or a related field, with deep knowledge of the Australian regulatory environment and financial services regulation. Extensive experience in financial markets gained from equivalent roles in regulated financial services businesses operating in Australia and New Zealand. Demonstrable experience working with ASIC, including a strong understanding of ASIC’s supervisory approach and key regulatory requirements. Proven ability to establish and maintain compliance frameworks and policies, including ensuring ongoing alignment and compliance with internationally derived regulatory requirements. Expertise in managing implementation or ongoing compliance with AFSL related requirements, with a proven ability to uplift and embed compliance programs and risk frameworks. Strong leadership skills, with the ability to upskill teams, influence stakeholders, and build a culture of accountability and integrity. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and challenge senior stakeholders effectively. A proactive and strategic mindset, with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment while maintaining high levels of compliance and operational excellence.
