The opportunity:
Our Security and Technology Solutions team is looking for professionals with extensive cybersecurity experience within the Defence industry or Federal Government industry to support a large Federal client.
This role can be based at Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, or Brisbane.
A Defence Security Clearance of NV1 is mandatory.
Key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Conduct comprehensive cyber risk assessments of key technology components and systems in alignment with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM).
- Identify, test, and assess applicable security controls according to government policies and guidelines.
- Develop and review security artefacts, including Threat and Risk Assessments (TRA) and System Security Plans (SSP).
- Communicate and document security risks, recommending treatments and modifications to existing security practices and procedures.
- Manage and develop complex relationships with stakeholders to achieve work area goals, ensuring clear communication of security concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Educate and inform departmental staff to promote understanding and adherence to security policies and processes.
- Contribute to the system authorisation program by ensuring that security assessments meet required standards for system projects and programs.
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, projects, and strategies to enhance the overall cyber security posture.
- Continuously work to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the cyber security service, leveraging knowledge of global cyber security trends, attack vectors, and techniques.
- Manage and maintain agreed service levels, ensuring that cyber security operations align with organizational goals.
About you

- Extensive experience with risk and information security frameworks, policies, and standards, particularly the Federal Government PSPF and ISM, as well as international standards such as ISO 27001/2.
- Proven experience in conducting security threat and risk assessments and developing relevant security authorisation artefacts.
- Demonstrated security experience within complex ICT environments, highlighting the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and threats.
- Strong skills in stakeholder management, capable of engaging and communicating effectively with diverse audiences to foster security awareness.
- A solid understanding of current global cyber security trends, attack vectors, and techniques, ensuring proactive risk management.
- Relevant experience working within the Federal Government context, understanding its specific security requirements and operational frameworks.
- Tertiary or other relevant qualifications in cyber security, information technology, or a related field, enhancing theoretical knowledge and practical application.
