The Opportunity:
The role of Principal Consultant - Telecommunications Engineer is to ensure that the company has sufficient capable and competent engineering and technical resources to deliver Communications and Operational Technology projects, as well as the technology, processes, and procedures to support these.

The role is based at our Sydney CBD location, and we also welcome a hybrid flexible working model.

Ensuring sufficient capable and competent Communications, OT engineering, design, and technical resources are available to support Rail Systems projects, including:

  • Review and approve designs to legislated, industry, and client specifications.
  • Provides in-depth expertise in more than one specialist area for GSM-R network upgrades, changes, and faults.
  • Directing the production and providing continual support for standards and procedures.
  • To develop and maintain project specific Engineering Management plans.
  • Ensure full compliance of the RSA engineering processes with ISO9001:2008 and other standards as appropriate.
  • Provide input on relevant bids and tenders that are being undertaken by the bid team.

About You:

  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant design and management experience.
  • Demonstratable end-to-end knowledge of railway telecommunications systems, in particular GSM-R and FRMCS.
  • Experience in designing, deploying and upgrading GSM-R and/or 2G/4G/5G networks.
  • Thorough knowledge of railway Telecommunications practices and principles including an excellent appreciation and understanding of client needs and requirements.
  • Experience with European Rail Traffic Management Systems (ERTMS) - Design & Testing.
  • Detailed knowledge of radio planning tools (including HTZ ATDI or similar).
  • Experience in GSM-R and/or 2G/4G/5G performance management tools.
  • Knowledge of ACMA and AMTA regulatory, compliance and safety requirements.
