About the role

An exciting opportunity exists in the TasNetworks Protection and Control team for a Senior Protection and Control Technical Officer.

The position is based in Devonport in Tasmania's North West, but we are open to considering candidates working predominantly from the Launceston area. Reporting to the Works Delivery Leader, the role will be responsible for maintaining TasNetworks Protection and Control Systems. This includes providing high-quality technical support to all relevant stakeholders and minimising business risk by identifying and addressing any existing deficiencies in protection and control assets.

This role is highly technical and will ensure Protection, Control and Scada capital upgrades are commissioned to TasNetworks standards and to the highest possible quality. The successful candidate will also ensure optimum asset reliability whilst meeting financial and business objectives. Maintaining safe work systems and controlling risk effectively is a must.

About you

To be successful in this role you will be very experienced and have a great track record in Protection Control

You will have extensive field experience in the maintenance and/or commissioning of protection and control assets, sound knowledge of EHV transmission and distribution protection, control and SCADA assets. You will also be a champion for strong safety culture, have experience with preparing high quality documentation and high-level communication, motivation, negotiation and leadership skills.

Essential - tertiary qualifications (degree or diploma) in Engineering, or relevant experience in protection and control.

Desirable – Electrical Practitioner’s Licence or willingness to acquire.
