We own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 295,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers. We facilitate the transfer of electricity between Victoria and Tasmania via Basslink, the sub-sea electricity interconnector. We also provide telecommunications and technology services.
About the role
Band 5 - Salary range $104,284 - $147,238 per annum (plus super)
This is an exciting, fixed term opportunity to join our legal team at a pivotal time in the energy industry!
Working in a Corporate Counsel role at TasNetworks you will provide legal support to the business, helping drive impactful decisions and ensuring alignment with both business and legal requirements.
Joining a professional and dynamic team, your role will involve:
- Providing high quality, efficient and effective independent legal advice on a wide range of issues in the business in relation to day-to-day operations, with a particular focus on general commercial, energy regulation and compliance matters;
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders;
- Supporting the knowledge sharing and capability uplift within the Legal Services team and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
About you
You will have a commercial, pragmatic and flexible approach to the delivery of legal services, with proven experience in general commercial law.
Operating in a dynamic and complex business environment, you will have a demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate and communicate with a range of stakeholders, and show innovation and assume responsibility in making informed decisions for your area. An understanding of the regulatory framework in which TasNetworks operates will also enable you to deliver effectively.
You will also have an ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities effectively with a high level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical conduct.
You will bring a tertiary qualification in law, holding a current legal practising certificate. A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a legal practitioner is highly desirable.
