A great opportunity has become available for an experienced Head of Engineering Operations to join the team. This position will supervise engineering operations, and will have responsibility for the the generic Work Breakdown Structure as well as tools to support disciplines improve their capitalisation capabilities and participate in workforce planning.
KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the HEAD OF ENGINEERING OPERATIONS, you are accountable for:
- Lead technical and engineering workforce planning and allocate resources to bids, projects and products within Domain perimeter
- Operate as the single interface to the Project Management Office and Domains to receive demand inputs and provide engineering commitments
- Develop the engineering Make-Team-Buy and footprint strategy and manage implementation activities
- Establish, in collaboration with Procurement, the standing arrangements with suppliers of engineering services to deliver outsourced activities
- Manage the generic WBS/PBS and estimate approaches and maintain reference cost actuals from previous bids, projects and products
- Lead the Decision Management discipline within the function
- Support the Engineering Environment Manager by collating Domain inputs in collaboration with IS/IT
- Co-ordinate Engineering Capability Management activities
- Maintain competitiveness dashboard and collaborate with the Project Management Office and Finance to report key KPIs to support the development of the monthly Engineering Dashboard. This will include Development On Time Delivery (DOTD) and Engineering Efficiency Index (EEI)
- Actively facilitate routes of resolution for operations issues to the satisfaction of key stakeholders
- Lead identification and management of continuous improvement activities in collaboration with the Domain Engineering Leads and Heads of Engineering Delivery
- Ensure that engineering activities and reviews include all the disciplines necessary to ensure solution safety, solution security, design to cost, design for manufacture, acceptance and service
- Exercising Technical and Engineering Authority if delegated and mutually agreed.
KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree or equivalent.
- Recognised as a Chartered Engineer (CPEng) by Engineers Australia or demonstrated engineering competencies required to attain CPEng (desirable). Eligible for Australian State engineering registration and the National Engineering Register (desirable).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Line Management of engineering teams.
