The role:

Thales Australia is a premier provider of systems, products and services in the defence, security and civil markets in Australia and throughout the world. The Thales Australia AWS business offers ship repair, maintenance and asset management / in-service support capabilities for commercial and naval ships in Australia.

The DORSC Program focus is the provision of Operating & Maintenance services for the Captain Cook Graving Dock (CCGD) and Reticulated Services within the Garden Island Defence Precinct (GIDP).

Opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our Above Water Systems Business based in Garden Island. As the Operations Manager you will be responsible for the operational management of the Reticulated Services and Captain Cook Graving Dock (CCGD) which includes all docking services delivered to navy and commercial customers.

You will be Accountable for:

  • Safe Operations of DORSC assets (plan and procedures)

  • Plan execute and certify operations

  • Approve plans and processes

  • Lead the implementation and progress of Continuous Business Improvement initiatives within the Operations team.

  • Ensure all Operational activities are delivered in full and on time and within budget by competent and authorised people

  • All activities concerning management of the physical and related information flows including the preparation, planning and execution of procurement, production and delivery.

  • Effective management and production of compelling, timely and accurate customer reporting

  • Guaranteeing the effective deployment, maintenance and improvement of industrial tools and processes.

  • Working closely with the DORSC Lead Team to champion and enhance strong safety culture across Garden Island.

About you

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a relevant field.

  • Demonstrated Leadership and relationship management experience within a matrix organisation.

  • Advanced analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated capability to establish and build stakeholder relationships (internally and externally).

  • Constructive and persuasive communication skills with the ability to engage and build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation
