Located south of Sydney at HMAS Albatross within the Helicopter Aircrew Training School (HATS) in Nowra, New South Wales, Australia. You will be joining a team of simulation professionals, backed up by a world leading Training and Simulation business in Thales. This team is embedded within a diverse customer environment and is critical in the successful execution of the unit mission statement – preparing helicopter aircrew for combat
About Your Role:
This role provides management and oversight for the maintenance of the Synthetic Training Environment (STE) at HATS, which consists of 3x Flight Simulators (EC135), 2x Virtual Reality Trainers, 2x Tactical Part Task Trainers, 2x DeskTop Trainers, 1 Marshalling Virtual Reality Trainer and the school’s internal ICT system.
This role is critical to the success of the Thales HATS project and is part of the Thales leadership team contributing to the strategic objectives for the Thales project team and the wider AVS organisation.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The position will involve direct engagement with our prime customer Boeing Defence Australia (BDA), and the end-user being members of the Royal Australian Navy and Australian Army, as well as other administration staff within the training school.
Other key responsibilities include:
Managing & leading the overall operation & maintenance activities for Simulation & Systems to maintain the performance requirements of the Thales contract
Mentor & lead teams to drive performance & maintain & foster a high safety culture
Report development & tracking
Manage & foster a high commitment to quality systems & processes
Communicate & work with key subcontractors & our customers to raise & resolve complex technical issues with the STE devices
Essential Qualifications and Skills;
Qualification in avionics, electronics, computer/IT or similar
Experience as a supervisor or leader in a high-touch work environment
Highly Desirable Qualifications and Skills;
Experience in simulation, aviation or other advanced tech environments
Previous experience in Defence projects
Security Clearance, currently held or attainable
