About Your Role
Thales Australia is a leading provider of cutting-edge defence and security solutions, with a strong focus on innovation and technology. Australia Munitions operates the Benalla and Mulwala facilities which are Australia’s only major manufacturer of propellants, high explosives, munitions, ammunitions and munitions components for the Australian Defence Force and commercial customers in Australia and overseas.
Thales Australia Mulwala facility is a chemical manufacturing plant, producing chemicals, propellant and explosives for Defence and commercial sales. We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Acid Team, working across rostered 12 hour shifts which range from morning, afternoon and night shifts.
Reporting to the Team Leader, a few of the responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Running of Calcium Nitrate plant with subsequently learning of AO and NACSAC plant.
- Running of Gypsum press.
- Pumping of different chemicals in the Acid area.
- Monitoring parts of waste water treatment area.
- Monitoring of safe and environmentally complying production of Calcium Nitrate and Nitric Acid plant.
- Carry out other tasks within the capabilities of the operator, as directed.

- Good communication – capable of working in a small tight knit team
- Committed to safety and able to plan and carry out basic tasks in a safe manner.
- This position requires working in different shifts including weekends and public holidays.
- Reasonable level of manual dexterity.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Basic computer literacy (desirable).
- Available for ad-hoc overtime.
This position involve the handling and interaction with variety of hazardous chemicals and may require on going health monitoring. As such an assessment of applicant’s current fitness for work in relation to role requirements may also be required as part of the selection process.
