The role:
Opportunity for a Class Manager to join our team based at Garden Island Defence Precinct. The purpose of this role is to establish and maintain relationships with assigned Asset Class Maintenance Management functions, providing oversight of the Maintenance Services for the assigned Asset Class, ensuring all performance obligations are being met, and opportunities for maintenance optimisation are being captured.
Duties will cover all aspects of Service Management including; Forging a collaborative and service-centric culture and ensuring all relevant Asset Class objectives in relation to seaworthiness, safety, cost, time and quality are achieved.
Responsibilities include:
Team leadership and management.
Interfaces with the Customer about technical & operational subjects from the capture and processing of requests, to the delivery of the service and associated documents.
Guarantees service delivery for the Asset Class, ensuring that incidents are managed and that the Service is continuously available.
Ensures that service requests are managed properly, optimising the experience feedback.
Understand the maintenance philosophy and participate in developing the Annual Work Plan (AWP), and long-range maintenance and engineering change forecast for the assigned Asset Class.
Oversee development of Maintenance Period Work Packages, ensuring that they achieve the required operational effectiveness and safety objectives for the ships next tasking.
Oversee Maintenance Period Work Package execution, ensuring the scope and schedule continues to achieve the Customers required operational effectiveness and safety objectives for the ships next tasking.
Developing and chairing planning conferences, and stage gate reviews.
Prepare and submit reports and other deliverables as required by the Customer and internal departments.
Review, analyse and act on variances in labour hours and material costs to ensure financial objectives achieved.
Attending scheduled meetings with senior Customer Representatives, to monitor progress and address issues.
Ensuring implementation of Maintenance Management Plans, Quality Plans and the Safety, Security, Emergency and Environmental Plans.
Ensure risks and opportunities are identified, assessed and managed.
Ensure cross-communication between Ship Maintenance Management team of risks, opportunities and issues that are relevant across the Asset Class.
How about you?
Tertiary or trade qualifications required in mechanical, electrical, electronic or marine engineering or extensive experience in a related field.
Qualification in project management or relevant industrial experience .
Customer focus (both internal and external) through anticipating and providing solutions to customer needs and giving high priority to customer satisfaction.
Ability to successfully work with people at all levels of an organisation including as part of a team.
Minimum of seven years’ ship-related technical experience .
Familiar with maintenance optimisation using Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) .
Familiar with Computerised Maintenance Management (CMMS) and / or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Experience with Navy maintenance management practices.
