Our Team

From take-off to landing, Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support today's growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence.

This will enable a new level of safety and efficiency, while also reducing delays for the travelling public and providing opportunities to improve environmental outcomes. OneSKY will transform Australia’s sky and we are proud to be partners in its delivery.

The role

A great opportunity to join the Engineering Environment team within the Engineering discipline. The ultimate aim is to help drive digital transformation. The scope is across all AMS functions, products and projects.

The purpose of the Software Engineer (Weaver) role is to support our AMS vision of moving the Engineering Environment into Cloud by driving Dless to Weaver activities (i.e. development, migration, maintenance).

DLESS

Dless (JAVA) is the tool to manage requirements (HLR) and tests (HLT) activities of SW components from a Git repository in compliance with AMS Software Development Standard (SDS) and DO-278A standard.

Weaver

Weaver (Python, Docker) is set of tools and services which build, deploy and operate the documentation from a Git/Gitlab repository. It is designed for supporting generic documentation as well as the specific ED-109A/DO-278A standard

Some key accountabilities:

  • SME of Weaver features and their usage
  • Weaver feature development and support
  • Work with Weaver team in France on new features and defects
  • Maintain Dless to Weaver conversion tool
  • Lead the migration of Dless components to Weaver
  • Develop and maintain related documentation
  • Ensure incident tracking tools are updated in accordance with established norms and processes
  • Deliver training, coaching, and to develop and maintain related material

On day one you will come with:

  • Strong understanding of the entire Software Development Lifecycle
  • Agile software development
  • Comprehensive technical expertise in a variety of DevSecOps toolkits, including:
    • Ansible, Jenkins, Artifactory, Jira, Terraform, Git/Gitlab, Docker and
    • Umbrella toolbox for AMS standard CI/CD script in Gitlab CI
  • Experienced with Linux (RedHat) and Windows operating systems
  • Scripting and programming languages (Python, JAVA)
  • LaTeX for the document generation
  • Experienced with Infrastructure as Code, Configuration Management and Containerisation
