Your Role: Maritime Aviation Warfare Instructor
This Maritime Aviation Warfare Instructor role is located at the Joint Helicopter School (JHS), HMAS Albatross in Nowra, NSW, Australia. The successful candidate will assist in delivering foundational mission sensor employment and Aviation Maritime Warfare principles to the next generation of Royal Australian Navy Aircrew.
Instruction for this role is primarily aimed at the Maritime Aviation Warfare Officer - AvWO category. Additional assistance may also be required in the training of Navy Pilot’s, Remote Pilot Warfare Officers (RPWO) and Mission Sensor Employment Course (MSEC) aircrewman students.
The successful candidate for this role will need to be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Mission Systems and proficient to instruct tactical procedures, navigation principles and basic Search and Rescue (SAR) techniques.
Training will utilise a combination of CBT, Tactical Part Task Trainers and classroom-based tutorials in a blended learning environment. All Instruction for this role is situated in a strictly ground-based training environment, specifically aimed at the veteran community which may have a broad range of diverse personal circumstances.
Duties & Responsibilities:
This position involves the direct Instruction of Navy ab-initio students, including regular engagement activities within Boeing Defence Australia (BDA), Navy and Army Instructors, as well as other civilian staff within the training School.
Additional to the primary instruction role, successful candidates will also be assisting with the following tasks;
- Reviewing curriculum and providing recommendations for training efficiency improvements,
- Updating of instructor guides, student guides, synthetic simulation scenarios and training reference materials under the guidelines of current training directives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified RAN – Maritime Aviation Warfare Officer (AvWO) instructor, or hold an equivalent qualification;
- U.S. Navy Pilot - Airborne Tactical Officer (ATO)
- RAAF - Maritime Patrol Response Officer (MPRO)
- Contemporary knowledge of Military Airborne and Maritime platforms,
Highly Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
- Work experience as a military flying training instructor on airborne maritime platforms,
- MH-60R Seahawk helicopter qualifications,
- Anti-Sub Surface Warfare (ASW) experience,
- ASW dipping sonar experience,
- Demonstrated experience in at least one major naval surface unit as embarked aircrew for an overseas military deployment or exercise,
- Ability to obtain an Australian Base-level Security Clearance.
